Sequence elements

Sequence elements include repetitive sequence elements of various sorts and lengths. They were searched for by sequence homology using BLASTN with previously reported repetitive sequences. PU (Palindoromic Unit, also called REP, Repetitive Extragenic Palindromic), BIME (mosaic combination of several short sequence motifs called REP), LDR, ERIC (originally called as IRU), RSA, BoxC, iap, Rhs, Ter, TRIP and QUAD are included. All of them except BIME and Ter are still unclear for their physiological functions. BIME is known as a target site of DNA polymerase I and DNA gyrase. Some of them such as Rhs and LDR are protein-coding.
